Reg and I value the friendships we have made on line, this article is written with our friends security as much as our own, in mind.
We all have pet security measures, I had a friend, hid her wedding ring in her cellulite reducing gel. I hid mine in a packet of clay. We both lost our rings to strangers visiting our home. I have never been one for jewellery since then.
I say, 'burglars can steal jewellery but they cannot steal my memories' and Reg and I spend most of our money now, enjoying travelling the country in our caravan, having completed the downsizing.

There is a lot of concern about who can access your facebook information but the best security is being selective about what information you give out, over facebook, through blogs and on the internet generally, as it is accessed by more people than just your trusted friends.

I use varied ‘mailing addresses’ even for my important documents.

My generally ‘given out’, address is ‘Highways of Australia’, and I would love to meet you in my caravan awning studio, while I am on tour and I will announce that address in facebook and my blog but never the address of my secured to the earth, home.

I wrote a lnger article about this, in my 'Women, Woerds. Works', blog at http://www.fridgemagnetart.com/1/post/2010/02/internet-and-facebook-home-address-security.html

Copied from the article ‘Things Your Burglar Will Not Tell You’

DON"T announce your holiday on your Facebook page. It's easier than you think to look up your address.

So don’t make it easier for them by actually giving them your address.

Remember your friends, heard and respected your saying ‘no’, you do not give out your home address or meet at your home, the first time and do not keep persisting with ways to obtain it.

Have you considered using a post office box number if you need to give out an address over the internet for the purpose of competition entries or buying and selling on line?
